Personal journey with bilateral plantar fasciitis surgery
Christina is doing everything the doctor ordered and is a wonderful patient! Today she is a little more nauseous and sore but is in good spirits (as always).
My husband (Daddy) and I (Mom) worked in shifts today making sure her foot was iced for 30 minutes on 15 minutes off throughout the day and seeing that all of her other needs were taken care of (water, food, medicine).
We applied ice to both sides of her foot as she is experiencing more pain and discomfort. The ice seems to really help the pain and after 15 minutes of not having ice, she is ready for it again.
Last night we had to learn how to strap her foot and leg into a brace to keep her foot at a 90 degree angle during the night. It was a bit of a challenge to get the actual brace situated as there were several straps that wrapped around her leg and foot which fastened with velcro. The straps kept getting stuck to each other. We finally figured it out!
Tonight it didn’t take us quite as long to get the brace fastened.
When I started thinking about having surgery for my plantar fasciitis I spent hours researching online. I could only find one personal experience with plantar fasciotomy and it hadn't been updated in a long time.
So I thought I'd chronicle my journey from beginning to end and post updates as time goes on as to how well the surgeries worked for me. I'll be having two - one surgery for each foot. I have bilateral plantar fasciitis.
I also created this blog so that my family, friends, associates and clients could easily check my progress and chat with me during recovery.
So if you're visiting this blog way after I've had surgery, I hope the information you find here helps. If you're one of my family members, friends, associates or clients, I hope you'll post lots of comments because your support will keep me going strong through post-op recovery.
Regardless of when you stop by, I'm glad you're here!

Tell her to keep her chin up. She’s a tough chick and we other tough chicks are pulling her up.
Nice job helping her so much and I wish I could be down there to help with rehab! I’ll be her online help through it. lol
