Personal journey with bilateral plantar fasciitis surgery
Okay, I promised a picture and here it is. This is the incision made on my left foot. We held a ruler up to it so that you could see that the incision is less than one inch.
This picture was taken the day after my first post-op appointment where my doc removed all of the gauze. I apologize that it’s taken a few days for me to post it to the blog.
It seems to be healing well. I’ll take another picture before and after my appointment on Thursday where my doc will remove the stitches.
Every day I pat a drop of liquid stabilized oxygen (O2 Plus) onto the incision to help it heal. I also add the oxygen drops to my water when I take my supplements twice a day. I’m doing everything I can to insure healing and a successful procedure.
So, looking at the picture it doesn’t look like that big of a deal, but I assure you that that little incision packs a wallop! I can’t imagine how painful a large incision would be.
From that pic you can also see that there’s no swelling. Awesome, huh!
When I started thinking about having surgery for my plantar fasciitis I spent hours researching online. I could only find one personal experience with plantar fasciotomy and it hadn't been updated in a long time.
So I thought I'd chronicle my journey from beginning to end and post updates as time goes on as to how well the surgeries worked for me. I'll be having two - one surgery for each foot. I have bilateral plantar fasciitis.
I also created this blog so that my family, friends, associates and clients could easily check my progress and chat with me during recovery.
So if you're visiting this blog way after I've had surgery, I hope the information you find here helps. If you're one of my family members, friends, associates or clients, I hope you'll post lots of comments because your support will keep me going strong through post-op recovery.
Regardless of when you stop by, I'm glad you're here!

It’s amazing what they can do with little incisions when they are good. I had laproscopy down on my abdomin and it hurt for days, but you can not even see the three insertions now!
Such little incisions and yet so much help. WOOHOO, I wanna meet you for hiking. North Cali would be mid way for us both wouldn’t it? I’m up just south of Seattle.

Oh, btw, I can write it off somehow and so can you. I’m a client of yours and I am a personal trainer, so I’m sure I can pretend you needed me for the hike and I KNOW I need you for the personal makeover chat we will have

Christina,
That looks like it has been really sore, especially to walk on. Thanks for being brave enough to post a pic of that foot. (:
Wishing you a full, quick recovery,
Rhonda

Val: Hey, you got it, Val! A few people have mentioned that so I may just have to plan something really fun and invite everyone to come!!
Sharon: LOL, no, I never thought I’d be posting a pic of my foot on the world wide web, Sharon. That’s for sure!
Rhonda: Yep, no walking yet. I’m still using the crutches. I just noticed that I actually have more bruising now than in this picture. I wonder if it’s the stretching that’s causing it. Hmmm.
